MARISA

Having a mom that is also a hairstylist, Marisa has grown up in the hair world. She first showed an interest in hair when she was younger and would "practice" on her friends and herself. She decided on a career in the hair industry pretty quickly after high school and graduated hair school in 2000. Since then, Marisa has been busy in the hair industry for over 20 years. She moved to San Francisco where she decided that she wanted to specialize in the cutting side of the industry. From SF, to NY, to LA, Marisa has always worked in busy salons where she builds up a clientele with her friendly personality and her attention to individual needs. She has taken many advanced cutting classes over the years at Toni & Guy and Bumble and bumble and continues to always want to grow and perfect her cutting skills. She loves using the razor to create easy to maintain hairstyles that grow out really well. She has a good eye for detail and wants people to feel good about themselves. When Marisa is not doing hair she is probably hanging out in the good weather with her two dogs.

With a background in fine arts and illustration, I’ve always found an outlet of expression and creativity through hair. Born and raised in OC, Long Beach quickly became my true home 7 years ago. I’ve spent the past year as Marisa’s apprentice, as well as assisting under other stylists, taking in as much knowledge as possible. My specialty is razor haircutting and I plan to expand in color and lightening. I love creating punky mullets, shags, pixies and everything in between.

I’m excited to build a clientele at Freebirds salon and can’t wait to meet y’all!

Some of my favorite services include vivid colors, lived-in blondes, and detailed haircuts, but I love bringing all types of hair goals to life. I’m dedicated to continuing my education by regularly taking advanced courses to stay current with the latest trends and techniques.
In addition to working behind the chair, I’m passionate about giving back to the industry by hosting classes and mentoring new stylists as they grow and build their careers.

I'm a California native, and I'm Long Beach born and bred, so I'm all about a look that's suited to each persons unique routine and style. I’m Anastasia (Stasi for short)! I’m a stylist who loves curls, barbering, and eccentric cuts and designs. I have been licensed for 8 years behind the chair and self employed for 6 of those. I live each day in honor of my late son, Fable Sage, who tragically passed away at 19 months old in November of ‘24. I’m a harm reductionist, chemistry nerd, and adventurist/traveller. I moved back to SoCal from the Midwest a few years ago and have been a Freebird ever since! As a fellow queerdo, I take pride in providing services to the LGBTQIA+ community and paving the way for my clients to be 100% authentically themselves 🖤 Knowing you feel safe in my chair is my ultimate goal- apart from making you feel as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside! Hi! I’m Nata, just a silly goose that actually really likes deep talks and learning new things. I’ve been doing hair for over a decade and my passion for it grows stronger all the time. I started my career a lifetime ago in Seattle, WA where I started giving bathroom haircuts to queer and trans friends that weren't getting the results they were searching/asking for in salons and barber shops. Since then I have gained experience with both cut and color, from clipper cuts to long layers and from natural balayage to neon peek a boos. My main priority as a stylist is providing low maintenance and gender affirming hairstyles. I believe hair is one of the best tools we have to communicate who we are to the world around us. So why put limits on how we do that? I love providing a creative custom look and comfortable experience. The collaborative aspect of hair excites me; you come in with the idea and I will execute it, and hopefully you can leave feeling more like you!

My name is Markie Medina. I specialize in vivid colors, shags/ mullets, and I love a good retro wave!

When I’m not at the salon I am writing music with my boys of storm house. We’ve been a group for about 5 years now. Singing and writing poetry has always been my first passion in life and I am so blessed that it still plays a major role.

Other things I enjoy are running at the beach, scrap booking, collecting vinyl records, vintage/ antique shopping (any kind of shopping honestly 😅), and I love spending time with my friends and family.

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, I grew up in the heart and in the prime time of emo in the Midwest. I DIY'ed anything I could and hair was always my go-to form of creativity and catharsis. That hasn't changed since 2005.

I've been in the hair industry professionally for 10 years adamant on staying current while also staying true to my roots. I love using technical skills as well as intuition to create cool hair, whether it's making rainbows, mullets, or anything in between.

I recently moved across the country to Long Beach which has quickly become home. I couldn't be more excited to re-build a clientele here.
