HERE'S OUR BADASS SQUAD
Having a mom that is also a hairstylist, Marisa has grown up in the hair world. She first showed an interest in hair when she was younger and would "practice" on her friends and herself. Her mom then brought her to the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica where she graduated in 2000. Since then, Marisa has been busy in the hair industry for over 15 years. After LA, she moved up to San Francisco where she decided that she wanted to specialize in the cutting side of the industry. From SF, to NY, to LA, Marisa has always worked in busy salons where she builds up a clientele with her friendly personality and her attention to individual needs. She has taken many advanced cutting classes over the years at Toni & Guy and Bumble and bumble and continues to always want to grow and perfect her cutting skills. She has a good eye for detail and wants people to feel good about themselves. When Marisa is not doing hair she is probably at Rosie's dog beach with her two dogs.
Wade runs the ship over here! From answering the phones to folding towels, Wade is keeping things running smoothly in the shop. With his own bare hands he built the salon out and poured his blood sweat and tears into getting this place up and running! When he's not in the salon you can find Wade either playing music in his band, or doing nerd stuff like messing around with his fish tank.
Marie's most important goal as your stylist is to work together to create a look that best suits your hair, face shape, maintenance routine, and lifestyle. After becoming both a licensed cosmetologist and barber, Marie continued her path towards a higher education and received her color specialist license from ABCH in 2011. She specializes in blondes, creative colors, and color corrections, but also loves cutting. Outside of work, Marie loves playing roller derby and roller skating, playing music, and pole dancing. Her favorite part about being part of the Freebirds family is how friendly, comfortable, and fun the vibes are in the salon. Growing up punk meant only going to the salon when you really f#@cked up your own hair, and its hard to find a place where you don't feel judged for the way you look.

Well first of all, I am a licensed cosmetologist and barber here in the grand state of California. I have been perfecting my skills here as a stylist, colorist, and therapist for nearly a decade. I enjoy connecting with clients about their personal style about how we can amplify, simplify, or RADicalize it! Yes, I talk to my clients' hair; have conversations with said hair, and often argue with it until it does what I want. I enjoy experimenting with hair and encourage my clients to step beyond their usual comfort zones. I especially love when clients come in with a willingness to try something new. I'm a California native, and I'm Long Beach born and bred, so I'm all about a look that's suited to each persons unique routine and style. You want a high-end, professional, tie-dye rainbow masterpiece that holds up to a long weekend of camping, bonfires, and too much craft beer? I got you, boo. I received my cosmetology license from the Career Academy of Beauty with special training in Sassoon cut and coloring, including a six month externship in a Vidal Sassoon salon. For me, styling is just as much about a personal connection as it is about a beautiful finished look. I'm here to make your head and your heart happy. Let's talk.
